AlphaPlus helps ensure that qualifications and assessments are working as intended. Evaluation is a crucial factor in assessing and confirming the validity of pilot or existing qualifications and assessments. Our theory-of-change methodology secures a robust evaluation of the outcomes and impact of qualifications and assessments on teaching and learning and the education system. This includes analytical work, often on large datasets, field work with centres, teachers, students and wider stakeholder groups, reporting and evidence-led action planning.
We draw on a wide body of knowledge about assessment both nationally and internationally. Our work often also includes training and capacity development with stakeholders, and support for strategic development.
We conduct medium- and long-term studies of the impact of policy changes and interventions for government and its agencies to support evidence-based decision making.
We evaluate and report on the research process when policies and interventions are implemented.
We use case studies to help give an in-depth understanding of the education system and teaching and learning in a number of contexts. For example, we look at what works in different types of school, college or university.
We have high-level expertise and wide experience in the quantitative analysis of data to support both the evaluation and the improvement of qualifications and their assessments.
Developing effective, bespoke surveys for our clients, using either online or paper-based questionnaires or telephone interviews is another of our specialisms. These can be used for large research projects or stand-alone stakeholder consultations, for example.
We undertake extensive literature and document reviews for clients, either as part of a larger project or as stand-alone pieces of work.
