Case studies

We often use a case-study strategy in our research and evaluation. This usually includes multiple sites and can be either a ‘snap-shot’ study or longitudinal studies: for the latter we visit three or four times over a longer period of time. The final report on the evaluation of the maths linked pair of GCSEs for DfE included findings from 13 case-study schools collected over a four-year period, including classroom observations and interviews with teachers, pupils and senior leadership teams.
